Updated October 4, 2026. Verified against school program and cost pages, ACCSC disclosures, Nevada System of Higher Education program lists and FAA pass-rate data. How we verify.
Nevada has one FAA-certificated A&P mechanic school: Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Las Vegas. None of Nevada’s public colleges offers an A&P program; their aviation programs train pilots and drone operators. Nevada students who want a lower-cost public option can look to Southern Utah University (see our Utah guide), about two and a half hours from Las Vegas, or other Western programs that offer reduced tuition through the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE).
Key Takeaways
- The only Nevada school: AIM Las Vegas, a 21-month certificate with day, evening and weekend classes; next start November 2, 2026.

Lab fees total $23,500 on top of tuition, which is $3,634 per semester for Utah residents; Nevada students with a 2.50–3.69 GPA can apply for WUE, which caps tuition at 150% of the resident rate. Other Western programs
- Salt Lake Community College: AAS at its Airport Center, morning or afternoon schedules, 89.3% FAA pass rate; WUE brings tuition to about $3,380 per semester. A SkyWest pathway offers tuition help and a guaranteed final interview.
- Utah State University: two-year AAS; WUE available; graduates passed all 25 FAA written tests in the latest report.
- Chandler-Gilbert Community College (Mesa, Arizona): $12,297 for the full A&P certificate at the WUE rate; 91.6% pass rate.
- Victor Valley College (California): closest to Las Vegas by road among California programs, but California colleges do not offer WUE rates for aviation maintenance, so nonresidents pay about $30,944.
- For Reno-area students, Sacramento City College is about two hours away and posted a 100% FAA pass rate, at nonresident rates of about $33,517.
Paying for A&P School in Nevada
Nevada’s state programs, the Millennium Scholarship, Nevada Promise and the Silver State Opportunity Grant, apply only at Nevada’s public colleges, which do not offer A&P programs. AIM students can use federal Pell Grants and loans, VA benefits and military tuition assistance. Adults may qualify for WIOA training funds through Workforce Connections in Southern Nevada or Nevadaworks in the north; ask whether AIM is on the approved provider list.
